Mount Olive Baptist Church in Towson vandalized

Mount Olive Baptist Church leaders have declined to comment following the discovery of an obscene message scrawled in feces on a glass side door of the African American church.

The message was smeared on the window along with two S's inside a circle, a white supremacist Nazi symbol. A small pile of feces was also left by the side door of the church at 816 York Rd., police said.

A police incident report states that the church has had problems in the past with people sleeping near that door.

The name of the man who discovered the vandalism at 11:30 a.m., Nov. 6, was redacted from the police report.

Nothing else was disturbed, police said.

A man who answered a phone at the church Monday morning and identified himself as a member of the church said no one there would comment on the vandalism.

The church did, however, request a follow-up by the Baltimore County Office of Fair Practices and Community Affairs, the Office of Human Relations or the Office of Community Conservation, according to the police report.

Police have suspended the case because there aren't any leads, police spokesman Cpl. John Wachter said. If something comes up the case will be reopened, he said.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the Towson Precinct at 410-887-2361.

The vandalism isn't the first case of property destruction at a church in Towson this year. In July, police arrested a man they say broke several windows at Trinity Episcopal Church in Towson using a pipe.
