After investigation, Towson mall robbery downgraded

(Karl Merton Ferron, Baltimore Sun)

An incident initially reported by Baltimore County police as a robbery inside a bathroom on May 28 at Towson Town Center has been downgraded to a "suspicious condition," police spokesman Cpl. John Wachter said June 1.

No robbery occurred, he said. The alleged assailant and the victim were seen together in the mall, Wachter said.

A police report given to the Towson Times May 30 said the victim, described by police as "extremely uncooperative," told police a man had followed him on May 28 from the Apple Store on Level 2 to the food court and into the bathroom on Level 3 and then robbed him of cash at gunpoint at around 3:25 p.m.

But after further investigation police issued an update June 1 online stating that there was no robbery and instead characterized the incident as suspicious.
