After a stellar, overall Baltimore County School experience at Cockeysville Middle School, I was shocked to enter the Dulaney High School building this fall.
No air conditioning for a place filled with almost 2000 bodies in a day, bathroom faucets that rushed brown foul water, and severe safety concerns throughout the interior and exterior of the facility. This is a high performing school? This is one of northern Baltimore County's best school districts to reside?
We are offering our DHS students and staff far worse than mediocre schools. Moreover, we're telling them they're not worth an overdue update on thebuilding. We're telling our youth that they don't matter, suck it up and keep making your county proud. This message will result in poor scores, loss of successful students and safety concerns.
I encourage DHS parents, community members and our newly elected civic leaders to make an appointment to visit DHS. If you're unable, ask a student or staff about their DHS school necessities. I guarantee, you'll demand that the county provide the basics for students to thrive. The improvement list is growing at an alarming rate.
