This year, the faculty, staff, students and families of Pleasant Plains Elementary School say goodbye to their principal, Maureen Partilla, who is retiring after more than a decade at the helm of the school.
As a resident of neighboring Loch Raven Village and the parent of two students who attended Pleasant Plains during her tenure, I want to acknowledge Mrs. Partilla's tireless commitment to the safety, well-being and academic success of every child who attended under her watch.
Because of Mrs. Partilla, Pleasant Plains is a thriving community school that, among many other things, offers smart boards in every classroom, boasts a Green School designation, participates in the Spanish language instruction pilot program and has two full time physical education teachers.
It is my hope that Baltimore County Public Schools is as proud of Mrs. Partilla's work as her school community is – and will fill her shoes with someone who will continue to build on the solid foundation she leaves behind.
