With Towson's Fourth of July parade set to march in less than a month, organizers are finalizing details about the annual celebration — and that includes fundraising.
"We have to raise the money to pay for it," said Nancy Hafford, executive director of Towson Chamber of Commerce. "We're hoping we can get some sponsors or donations are greatly welcome."
The annual parade is expected to cost $30,000, according to Hafford. A large chunk of the funds are already collected, she added, including securing Towson University as a major sponsor. But about $7,000 more is still needed, she said.
The parade will take the same route through the heart of downtown Towson as in past years. It will start at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Bosley and Burke Avenues, rain or shine.
A number of favorite marching groups have agreed to appear, including the Ravens Marching Band and several drug and bugle corps, Hafford said.

Fundraising also continues for the Fourth of July fireworks at Loch Raven Technical Academy. The Associates of Loch Raven Village, which organizes the annual display. The neighborhood association has arranged a fundraiser at Twisted Pizza, 8712 Loch Raven Blvd., on the evening of Wednesday, June 17. A portion of the sales at the pizza restaurant from 4 to 10 p.m. will go towards the fireworks funding. Mention the fireworks when ordering. For details, go to facebook.com/LochRavenVillage.
