Iconic beech tree at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Towson chopped down after becoming diseased

An iconic beech tree on the grounds of Prospect Hill Cemetery along York Road, which became diseased after more than 130 years of life, was removed from the Towson landscape on Wednesday. The tree was estimated at over 80 feet tall and predated the founding of the cemetery in 1892.
