Two adults, three juveniles charged in May shooting in Parkville: Towson and Cockeysville area crime

Two men and three unnamed juveniles have been arrested and charged in connection with a nonfatal shooting in Parkville last month, Baltimore County police say.

Parkville resident Chimel Mequon Witherspoon, 19, and 20-year-old Demonte Derrick Poole of Baltimore have been charged with attempted first degree murder and using a firearm to commit a felony.

Witherspoon also has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm with a felony conviction and illegal possession of a firearm by a minor, police said.

Police on May 14 responded to the 8900 block of Old Harford Road to a report of a shooting around 10:31 p.m. Officers were advised that an unnamed 18-year-old man had been shot and taken by family members to a local hospital.

Police said Witherspoon allegedly fired a handgun at the victim, shooting him in the upper body after a confrontation ensued between the victim and a group of men, including Witherspoon and Poole, outside a gas station on Joppa Road.

Police allege the men then followed the victim on Old Harford Road and one hour later, Witherspoon shot him.

Witherspoon and Poole are being held without bond. Three juvenile suspects have also been charged, police said.
