Gas main break in Towson repaired

Gas service has been restored to two buildings in Towson that were evacuated Wednesday morning after a report of the odor of gas inside.

The buildings at 100 E. Pennsylvania Ave. and 414 Delaware Ave. were evacuated after gas was smelled at about 10 a.m., said Rachael Lighty, a spokeswoman for BGE.

A BGE crew discovered a broken 4-inch gas main and repaired it by 2:45 p.m., Lighty said. During repairs, the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Delaware Avenue had been closed.
