While the Towson and Loch Raven High schools are only about four miles apart, there was a world of difference in the play of both teams Tuesday.
The Generals rolled to a 6-0 victory over the visiting Raiders as Emma Kirts and Liz Rockhill each scored two goals.
Loch Raven (1-4) was outshot, 25-6, and didn't look like it belonged on the same field with the Generals, who used a lot of subs.
"We have been getting off to a lot of slow starts and we are a young team," Loch Raven coach Anthony Menegatti said. "We will learn and get better by the end of the year."
Menegatti is probably sick of seeing Rockhill, a four-year starter who has committed to playing soccer at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina.
She now has six goals in four games for Towson (3-1).
The Raiders won't forget her goal in the 13th minute. She volleyed Emmey German's corner kick into the upper right corner past senior goalie Ashanti Cheeks.
That gave Towson a 2-0 lead.
"That's one of the better shots I have seen against us this year," Menegatti said.
Sophomore Emma Corona boosted the Generals lead to 3-0 in the 27th minute with an unassisted goal.
She lofted a shot from 20 yards out over Cheeks (22 saves) and just under the crossbar.
"We had some great goals, but we need to be more consistent," Towson coach Matt Clifford said. "We were pretty flat today. We warmed up flat and started out flat. In the second half, we stepped it up. We are really working on as a team to come out 100 miles an hour right away."
Rockhill, German and Kirts scored in the second half.
Loch Raven scored in in the 77th minute on sophomore striker's Celina Baranoski's penalty kick.
