Dulaney Class of 1965 getting ready for 50-year reunion [Lutherville-Timonium]

As the Class of 2015 wraps up assignments and exams, prepares for graduation ceremonies, and dreams of their future, the coming weeks hold great excitement. Imagining a 50-year class reunion is not likely to be among their thoughts. But, for those who were graduated from Dulaney High School in 1965, that reunion is now just a few weeks away — exactly 50 years since the day of graduation. Among the events scheduled for this memorable evening will be a motorized photographic tribute to Dulaney faculty members — making its way from Texas to Timonium in a U-Haul truck. Reunion organizers are also seeking contributions to a scholarship designed to honor deceased classmates.

Members of the Dulaney High School Class of 1965 who have not yet purchased tickets can contact Tom Dawson at tomdawson315@gmail.com. The festivities will take place at the Radisson Hotel in Timonium on June 6th from 6 to 10 p.m. and will include hors d'oeuvres, a buffet dinner, dessert, coffee and a cash bar. Tickets are $50. per person.

Soon to be added to the list of Dulaney High School alumni is Amanda Bilger. Mandy, as she is known, has earned an enviable list of honors, awards, and scholarships. Most recently, Mandy was named a semi-finalist in the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program; she has been recognized for superior achievements, leadership qualities, personal character, and involvement in community and school activities.

Mandy is also a talented singer and was selected to perform in the 2015 National Association for Music Education's All-Eastern Honors Chorus. Last month, Mandy an Alto singer, participated in a 4-day conference held in Providence, Rhode Island where she sang in the Mixed Chorus. She was among students from 12 East Coast States nominated for this program. A Lutherville resident, Mandy is the daughter of David and Sue Bilger. She will attend Drexel University in Philadelphia in the fall where she has received both a full academic scholarship, plus one that covers room and board.

What does it take to earn the prestigious Eagle Scout Award, the ultimate goal for a Boy Scout? Just ask Timonium resident John Wescott who recently added that triumph to his list of accomplishments. As a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 750 at Immaculate Conception Church, John received that award — along with troop members Nathan Hoffman and David Cosimano — during a May 3 ceremony. Thanks to John's leadership, dedication, and hours of effort, there is now a wheelchair accessible path between the faculty parking lot and Immaculate Conception School. John's project for the church and school community involved clearing and levelling the land devoted to the path, then installing pavers to create the path. John is a 17-year-old junior at Calvert Hall. He is the son of Larry Wescott and Carolyn Brennan Wescott.
