Sherwood Episcopal Church recently welcomed the Rev. Nancy Hennessey as its rector.
Rev. Hennessey comes to Cockeysville from the General Theological Seminary in New York; she was ordained July 20 at Sherwood Episcopal by The Rev. Eugene Taylor Sutton, bishop of Maryland. Perched on Sherwood Hill, just above York Road, Sherwood Episcopal dates to the mid-1820's and the church itself was consecrated on Aug. 1, 1837.
The church has been an integral part of local history and its cemetery is the final resting place for many members of the founding families of Cockeysville, including the Cockeys, Merrymans and Bosleys. Sherwood Episcopal holds service each Sunday at 10 a.m. and will host its 2nd Annual Community Yard Sale on Saturday, Sept. 17. Check out sherwood.episcopalmaryland.org for more information — and welcome to Cockeysville, Rev. Hennessey!

Students and teachers are not the only ones heading back to Dulaney this fall as it also time for many milestone class reunions!
There are four classes celebrating in September, which include the Class of 1986 with its 30th reunion on Sept. 24.
They plan to gather on the rocks behind the school for a group photo at 6 p.m. and then head to Hightopp's Backstage Grille for the celebration. The Class of 1981 will commemorate 35 years with an evening at Bar Louie on Sept. 17, while the Class of 1971 will celebrate its 45th reunion at Oregon Ridge on the same day. Finally, the Dulaney Class of 1966, one of the earliest graduating classes from the school, will hold its 50th and final reunion Sept. 24 at Fazzini's Tavern. Details about all of the reunions can be found online.
Hope all the former classmates have a great time reminiscing and celebrating.
