Baltimore County recycling facility in Halethorpe reopens after closing due to flooding

The Western Acceptance Facility (WAF) in Halethorpe reopened Friday at 10 a.m. after “flooding conditions” kept it closed early in the morning, Baltimore County officials said.

“We are monitoring the weather for the remainder of the day. We are optimistic and we don’t know of any damages,” T.J. Smith, a county spokesman, said in an email.

The facility, which accepts residential recycling and waste, is open Monday-Saturday from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. during normal operation.

The Eastern Sanitary Landfill in White Marsh and the Central Acceptance Facility in Cockeysville are open and operating normally, officials said.
