Democrats will continue to represent voters in the southwest portion of Baltimore County from the 1st District County Council seat to statewide races for the House of Delegates and state Senate — the result of Tuesday night's mid-term election.
First District Councilman Tom Quirk, who was first elected to represent Catonsville, Arbutus and Lansdowne in 2010, was reelected to another 4-year term.
"I felt like it was a good race — we did see a [GOP candidate for governor Larry] Hogan surge, but I feel like in southwest Baltimore County, we did very well," Quirk said late Tuesday night.
The Catonsville Democrat won with 60.75 percent of the vote with 242 of 247 precincts reporting against Republican opponent Albert Nalley. In 2010, he defeated Republican opponent Steve Whisler with 55 percent of the vote.
Nalley could not be reached for comment for this story.
