With July 4 looming, time for summer fun is now [Perry Hall]

Although the season seems barely under way in early July, the Independence Day holiday separates the beginning of summer from the inevitable ending of summer. Planning what you'd like to do or see this summer is fine before the 4th of July. After Independence Day, stop planning and start doing. When the last piece of parade confetti hits the hot July street and the final firework illuminates the heavens, the countdown to summer's end starts and the back to school signs are everywhere! Since we are yet on the planning side of summertime, mark the date to attend our community's July 4th celebration.

The Kingsville Independence Parade takes place on Wed, July 4 (no rain date). It is the 32nd year of the joint parade sponsorship by the Greater Kingsville Civic Association and the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company. The theme for the 2013 parade is "From Sea to Shining Sea, We Celebrate Freedom." Please join in congratulating the theme winner, Talia Maria, a St. Stephen School student in the first grade. Talia's creativity has earned her a $100 savings bond!

As in years past, the pre-parade music and festivities begin at 10 a.m. at the judges viewing stand. You will be treated to an hour of entertainment featuring Buttons the Clown, Baltimore City Pipe Band, Upper Falls Dance Academy, Zumba Dance, a special appearance by Benjamin Franklin as interpreted by David Fisher and Ann Palrang, soloist. Afterward, the much anticipated parade begins at 10:50 a.m. from the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company on Bellvue Avenue, heads down Bradshaw Road to Jerusalem Road and winds up at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Bands scheduled to appear in the parade are as follows: Westminster Municipal, John Carroll High School, Baltimore City Pipe Band, Havre de Grace High School, Patterson Mill High School, Edgewood High School, Joppatowne High School, C. Milton Wright High School and Fallston High School.

Please thank and patronize the sponsors of our community parade. The Kingsville July 4th Parade would not be possible without the support and sponsorship of the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company. The company has provided much needed services to our local and neighboring communities for over 50 years. As the community grows and the number of people whose lives are affected increases, their services are needed even more. Because of the increasing need for assistance in the area, KVFC is committed to meet this need by expanding its facility to fully serve the needs of the community's citizens.

Donations are greatly appreciated to benefit the building fund of the expansion and renewal of the existing facilities. If you would like to help, you can make an online donation, donate by phone at 410-652-3206 or send a donation by mail to Capital Campaign, P.O.Box 65, Kingsville, MD 21087.
