The Holiday Season is the season for giving. With this sentiment in mind, Gaithersburg resident Debby Hartten began the Warm Hearts Happy Paws Donation Drive. This seasonal effort is spreading like a poinsettia, even reaching the Perry Hall community this year.

She is confident that the public will respond favorably. "People want to help but sometimes don't know how to do it", Debby said. "Make sure you have a collar with identification and rabies tags on your pet. People don't think their pets will get lost, but it happens."

Her original intent expanded into the "Generation Wags" website — http://www.generationwags.com — which is growing into a resource for animal advocates and pet parents. You can access Warm Hearts Happy Paws from this website's link.

The Warm Hearts Happy Paws Perry Hall Donation Box is at Perry Hall Animal Hospital, 9022 Belair Road. Donations benefit our local animal shelter at Baltimore County Animal Control, 13800 Manor Road, Baldwin.

The following are suggested items to donate: dog and cat food, dry or wet, puppy and kitten formula, dog and cat beds, dog and cat toys, fleece pads for cat cages/carriers, used baby receiving blankets, used blankets or bedspreads, newspaper (not the supplements), large and extra-large Nylabones, bleach, Tide, paper towels, hand lotion, anti-bacterial hand soap and hand sanitizer, cat nail clippers, plastic flea combs, Frontline, large Kong tennis balls, large red or black Kong toys, peanut butter for stuffing Kongs, large red jolly balls and Milkbones.

Remember Strolling Carolers will make their way around the Avenue at White Marsh every Saturday during the month of December. Join in the merriment and sing along!

Baltimore County Councilman David Marks recently announced some new additions to our community — a new Christmas tree and new decorations in Perry Hall.

Councilman Marks worked with Russell Berk, owner of the Chapel Hills Farm and Nursery, to have a new Christmas tree installed at Perry Hall Elementary School. Mr. Berk donated a 12-foot Norway spruce that he picked up from a tree farm in Frederick County.

Downtown Perry Hall will also light up, thanks to decorations donated by the Perry Hall Improvement Association and the Perry Hall/White Marsh Business Association.
