A section of Annapolis Road (MD 648) from the Baltimore County-Baltimore City line to the Baltimore County-Anne Arundel County line will be resurfaced by the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) starting Monday, Oct. 13, according to the SHA.
Residents can expect to see temporary lane closures, flagging operations and lane shifts from the bridge over Holly Creek near Yarnall Road to the Arbutus Avenue and Violet Avenue intersection a short distance from Patapsco Avenue.
Crews will be working on the road between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for several weeks, according to SHA spokesman David Buck.
The milling removal of several inches of old asphalt and overlay with several inches of new asphalt should be completed before Thanksgiving, Buck said.
The project's expected start on Oct. 6 had to be pushed back as the SHA worked with the Maryland Transit Administration to reduce the disruption for local residents who use the bus stop on Annapolis Road, Buck said.
The $760,000 project will improve "safety and ride quality" along the 1.5-mile section of the road, according to a statement from the SHA.
Motorists are asked by SHA and the contractor working on the project to exercise caution in the work zone and plan for extra travel time.
