Police identify elderly man found stabbed in Lansdowne home

Baltimore County Police are investigating the death of an elderly Lansdowne man, who was found in his home Tuesday suffering from stab wounds, according to a statement released by the Baltimore County Police department.

Police identified the man Wednesday as 80-year-old Willard Dimitri Rykowski.

At 3:27 p.m. police responded to a home in the 300 block of Third Avenue in Lansdowne to check on a subject, police said.

The 911 caller said he hadn't been in contact with Rykowski since last week and wanted someone to check on him, police said.

When officers responded, they found Rykowski suffering from multiple stab wounds, and he was declared dead at the scene, police said.

The incident is under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Homicide unit.
