A mural to honor longtime Arbutus resident George Kendrick is scheduled to be dedicated in a ceremony next week.
Kendrick, 94, had been the organizer of the community's annual Fourth of July parade since 1997 before stepping down this year due to declining health. He has also been a constant presence in Arbutus football — the mural depicts several football players from the Arbutus Golden Eagles youth football program.
The mural is an initiative of the Greater Arbutus Business Association.
Artist Edward Williams, of Catonsville, painted the mural over four days at the corner of East Drive and Maple Avenue.
