A Wednesday afternoon accident at an Arbutus intersection left one driver with minor injuries and a Baltimore County Public Schools trailer with a damaged axel, according to county officials.
The car struck a county schools trailer carrying lawnmowers yesterday afternoon at the intersection of Francis and Carville avenues near downtown Arbutus.
The driver of the car was an elderly woman, according to Baltimore County Police officer Ben Kummerlowe, who responded to the accident.
Just prior to the accident, she had been traveling south on Oregon Avenue, a northbound one-way road, he said.
When she made a right on Francis, she struck the trailer being towed by a county truck, he said.
Halethorpe Fire Station Captain Ed Sipes said, his department responded to the accident just before 1 p.m. on May 13.
The driver was able to get out of the car without help and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and later released, officials said.
The lawnmowers were not damaged, but the trailer's axel was broken and the car was badly damaged, according to Kummerlowe.
The driver of the car will not face charges and no tickets were issued, Kummerlowe said, but "she will probably be referred to the MVA."
At the state Motor Vehicle Administration, he said, it will be determined whether or not she is still able to drive properly.
