The State Highway Administration will shift three travel lanes on the Baltimore Beltway near Catonsville on Saturday night in order to remove concrete traffic barriers and install pavement markings along the Interstate 695 outer loop between Route 40 and Frederick Road.
Motorists should use alternate routes Saturday night into Sunday morning. Starting at 9 p.m., crews will begin adjusting the location of three lanes on Interstate 695. The lane closures are expected to be complete by 9 a.m. Sunday, a news release states.
Crews will close lanes on the following schedule, weather permitting:
• Single lane closure: 9 p.m. Saturday through 9 a.m. Sunday
• Double lane closure: 11 p.m. Saturday through 8 a.m. Sunday
• 15-20 minute traffic stop with a triple lane closure: Between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Sunday
• Interchange ramps will be open with short merge areas
All three lanes on the outer loop will be open to traffic once the overnight work is complete by Sunday morning. Motorists are advised to drive with caution through the work zone and use turn signals in advance of exiting and entering the outer loop, according to the SHA.
