Closures are expected this weekend in downtown Towson to accommodate paving work in front of the new Towson Row university student housing project on York Road.
Beginning Sunday night, Sept. 12, temporary weeknight lane closures, road closures, and detours will take place on York Road (Route 45). The work is expected to be complete by 5 a.m. next Thursday, according to the State Highway Administration.
On Sunday and Monday, motorists can expect single-lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on northbound and southbound York Road between Chesapeake Avenue to Towsontown Boulevard.
From Tuesday to Thursday, motorists can expect overnight closures and detours of northbound and southbound York Road from Chesapeake Avenue to Towsontown Boulevard; between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
During the closures, motorists traveling within downtown Towson will be redirected to a detour route that includes Chesapeake Avenue, Virginia Avenue, Towsontown Blvd., and Washington Avenue.
Detour signs will guide drivers through the detour route while York Road is closed, a news release states.
Drivers should be aware of reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes, according to the SHA.
