Baltimore County police investigating possible human remains in Jacksonville

Baltimore County police are investigating a report of possible human remains found behind a senior center.

Police received a call reporting possible human remains in the woods behind the Jacksonville Senior Center in the 3600 block of Sweet Air Road at approximately 3:11 p.m. Wednesday, said Officer Jennifer Peach, spokesperson for the department. Detectives were sent to the scene, and the medical examiner has recovered the remains.

“They are going to study them and determine whether or not they are actually human,” she said.

Peach could not say if one or multiple bones were found or if they were fragments or portions of bones. The remains were not fresh, Peach said.

At this point, the find would not qualify as a homicide, Peach said. If the bones are human, then police will begin the process of identifying who they belonged to, including conducting a DNA test.
