As many as 600 customers along South Rolling Road, between Wilkens and Bloomsbury avenues. may have their water temporarily shut off between 7 p.m. Saturday, April 25, through 10 a.m., Sunday, April 26 according to a press release from Baltimore County.
The turn-off is necessary for a private construction project at Brightview Assisted Living, according to the release.
Residents affected by the outage can prepare themselves by filling buckets and bathtubs with water, and by purchasing bottled water, said Wanda Wilkerson, customer service agent 1 for Baltimore City, which has authority of the water.
Once the water is flowing again, Wilkerson warned that it might be discolored. Customers should go to the lowest level of their residence and let the cold water run until it is clear.
Fortunately, CCBC Catonsville does not have any events scheduled for Saturday night, said Joan Swiston, campus director, who was notified in advance of the possible outage. Sunday classes will be held, and if there are any athletic events, athletes will fill up their water jugs in advance, Swiston said.
Brightview Assisted Living at 912 S. Rolling Road, was also told in advance, said Buster Koslowski, maintenance director, to give them time to prepare.
"We were told to fill up our tubs," Koslowski said. "We don't have tubs."
Five gallon jugs will be in all the restrooms at Brightview and bottled water will be provided. Dinner and breakfast will be served on paper plates. The facility's boilers will have to be turned off, as well as the fire pumps.
"It's going to be some extra work this weekend," Koslowski said. "We are prepared as we can be."
