A portion of Oella Avenue at Pleasant Hill Road will close for two weeks beginning Monday, Jan. 12 for the repair of a retaining wall in the Oella community of Catonsville, Baltimore County said in a press release issued Tuesday.
A failure in a 12-foot section of the stone wall was found in August and repairs were planned for early this year, the release said.
According to the county, the Oella wall was constructed in the 1980s and is over 200 feet long and 7 feet high at its tallest point.
Repairs to be completed by the county Department of Public Works will cost approximately $25,000 and the original stone will be used, the county said.
Traffic will be detoured to Westchester Avenue and Hollow Road during construction, the county said.
