Seton Keough pitcher Kelly Lynch talks about her team's win over rival Mount de Sales on Wednesday, April 1.
Senior pitcher Kelly Lynch allowed no earned runs for the fourth consecutive games as No. 3 ranked Seton Keough stopped No. 12 Mount de Sales, 5-1, in Interscholastic Atheletic Association A Conference softball action Wednesday afternoon.
Lynch, who will play at Catholic University next year, had shutouts in her previous three starts for the unbeaten Gators (4-0).
She struck out 10 and allowed four hits and one unearned run.
Sophomore Imani Dawson blasted a two-run homer in the first inning and Amber Cosgrove (3-for-3) belted a solo blast in the sixth.
Stefani Senkus scored the only run for the visiting Sailors (4-1) whose hits came from Senkus, Abby Zalucki, Kellie Schinzel and Taylor Forgen.
Boyd was brought up from junior varsity last season and contributed in the end.
"She had bases loaded double last year in the championship game and this year she has gotten better every game," Seton Keough coach Chuck Snee said. "She works the counts now and she has cut down on her strikeouts."
Boyd added an RBI single in the second inning and Cosgrove's homer to dead center in the sixth capped the scoring.
"We didn't make any errors on the field," Mount de Sales coach Pete Waskiewicz said. "They hit the ball."
