Reality Jones, SLY45 coming to Lurman Woodland Theatre

Reality Jones will bring its innovative pop-rock feel to the Lurman Woodland Theatre on Saturday, June 18 at 6 p.m.

Reality Jones has five members, all based in Baltimore: Tim McFadden, Jon Peck, Tim Fowler, Dave Heymann and Sarah Moreland. Singer/songwriter McFadden fronts the band, and all members are experienced musicians and performers. With a repertoire based on McFadden's original songs, the band prides itself on exceptional instrumentation and tight harmonies. They also enjoy live, improvisational jams in their pop/rock/indie music. Their sound has been compared to that of John Mellencamp or Lisa Loeb.

On Sunday, June 19 the Lurman hosts SLY45, a sextet performing early rock music blending influences of jazz, soul and pop. The band — sporting both male and female lead vocalists; lead, rhythm and bass guitars; a saxophone; and percussion — performs widely in clubs, at weddings and for special events. Their extensive playlist spans decades and styles, including Ray Charles, the Temptations, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Mumford and Sons and Bruno Mars. Their eclectic and crowd-pleasing music have them in demand around the mid-Atlantic area. SLY45 won "Best Band" in 2014 from Chesapeake Bridal Awards.

Both concerts run 6-8 p.m. The Lurman, located behind Catonsville High School, welcomes picnics, children and dancers, but prohibits grills, alcohol and pets. Some picnic tables and benches are available, but blankets and lawn chairs are welcome. For more information visit www.lurman.com.
