One man and two juveniles have been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of three Catonsville High School students on Feb. 24, Baltimore County Police spokesman Cpl. John Wachter said in a statement.
Joseph McInnis, 18, of the 200 block of Bloomsbury Avenue, has been charged with six counts including armed robbery, Wachter said. He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center, he said.
Two juveniles who live in Catonsville have been charged as adults with armed robbery, Wachter said. One has been released on $25,000 bail, the other is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center, he said.
A police officer responded to a call from the school at 2:15 p.m., and met one of the school's two assistant principals, who said students had been robbed while hanging out at the Lurman Woodland Theatre, Wachter said.
Police said an initial investigation revealed that three 15-year-old students had been cutting class and went into a vacant building near the theater. While in the building, they encountered several suspects who robbed them of money, a wallet and clothing, according to a police incident report.
Mychael Dickerson, a spokesman for Baltimore County Public Schools, said because of the pending police investigation, he could only say, "we believe several students were involved."
"Some were seniors who were on early release so they were not supposed to be at school during the time of the incident, but others were apparently skipping school and face school disciplinary action," Dickerson said.
