Catonsville’s 29th annual tree lighting celebration was held Nov. 26 in front of Fire Station No. 4. on Frederick Road.
Hundreds huddled around the tree sipping hot cocoa provided by Dusenberg’s restaurant and snacking on Otterbein cookies as Maryland Speaker of the House and Catonsville resident Adrienne Jones was joined by 7-year-old Omari Allen in leading the countdown to the town’s official kickoff to the Christmas season.
Fireworks and carols from the Mount de Sales Academy Choir heralded the tree lighting, while children caught snowflakes on their tongues generated from a snow machine perched on a vintage fire truck.
The event also marked the season’s official arrival of Santa to Catonsville, who was joined by Mrs. Claus for the festivities.
