All southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near the intersection of Interstate 195 were shut down on Sunday evening after a serious car accident.
Just before 6 p.m., a motorcycle collided with a car, and the woman riding the motorcycle was critically injured and taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to Maryland State Police.
By 6:30 p.m., all southbound lanes were still closed but troopers said they hoped to soon reopen two of the four lanes. An eight-year-old boy, a passenger in the car that was involved in the accident, was also injured, but his condition was not considered life-threatening, MSP said.
State Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
