Fifth District County Councilman David Marks participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Brightview Senior Living facility in Towson on Feb. 28, yet another step in the development's march towards a late June opening.

"The Brightview project, along with the completion of more than 120 new homes at Towson Green, will help transform this part of eastern Towson," Marks said. "I applaud Brightview for choosing to invest in Towson, but also for being a good neighbor to the Burkleigh Square neighborhood by donating funds for trees and other improvements."

After the ribbon-cutting, several potential residents toured a pair of finished units.

The first unit was located on the first floor and was a memory care unit designed for a resident withAlzheimer's, while the other was a larger studio apartment with a wheelchair-accessible kitchenette and small sitting area.

The development will feature both assisted living and memory care units, with 58 assisted living apartments and 32 memory care apartments.

According to a release from Brightview, the community will feature a spa, pub, salon, fitness center and other amenities.

Brightview Senior Living offers 23 senior living communities in the mid-Atlantic region and is the senior-focused division of The Shelter Group, a privately held company that has developed and managed residential real estate since 1977.
