Steam vent causes report of fire at elementary school in Catonsville

Among the 61 calls the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department received for medical and fire-rescue service Feb. 19-26 were the following:

Wilkens Avenue at Interstate 695, 4:47 p.m. Feb. 22. Crews from the Arbutus and Lansdowne volunteer stations responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries in Arbutus. Two people with non-life-threatening injuries taken to a local hospital.

Wilkens Avenue, 5000 block, 6:50 a.m. Feb. 22. Crews from the Arbutus volunteer station and Halethorpe career station responded to a report of a person injured after falling in Arbutus. One critically ill person taken to a local hospital.

Ridge Drive, 4400 block, 6:35 a.m. Feb. 22. Crews responded to a report of a person injured after falling in Arbutus and transported one seriously injured person to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Davita Dialysis, 1581 Sulphur Spring Road, 5:30 a.m. Feb. 21. Crews from the Arbutus volunteer station and Catonsville and Halethorpe career station responded to a report that two people had fainted in Arbutus. Two seriously ill people taken to a local hospital.

Westowne Elementary School, 401 Harlem Lane, 2:01 a.m. Feb. 21. Crews from the Arbutus volunteer station and Catonsville and Westview career stations responded to the report of a fire at an elementary school in Catonsville and found steam from a vent, but no fire.
