Towson crime log: Pair of breakins reported at State Fairgrounds in Timonium

The following is compiled from police reports from the Towson and Cockeysville precincts. Our policy is to include descriptions when there is enough information to make identification possible.


York Road, 2200 block. The State Fairgrounds in Timonium was broken into twice between 4 p.m. Dec. 30 and 10:01 p.m. Jan. 1. Fence at rear of the fairgrounds cut and window at rear of Exhibition Hall broken. Racing bike stolen. A patrol officer saw person with bike, who ran away. The bike was recovered. Also, glass on the fairgrounds' front door broken and attempt to get into automatic teller machine failed.

Greenspring Drive, 2300 block, at 1:08 a.m. Jan. 1. Surveillance camera showed male with crow bar in storage lot of Nationwide Motors entering parked vehicle. He fled when police arrived.

Gurteen Court, unit block, between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Dec. 30. Jewelry and blank checks stolen. Neighbor heard footsteps in adjacent apartment. Man rang her doorbell but left in white SUV when she answered.

York Road, 1200 block, between 10:42 and 10:46 p.m. Dec. 28. Rock thrown through front glass door and window to enter Greater Chesapeake Surgery Center. Desk drawers pried open but nothing stolen.

Farnham Way, unit block, between 8 p.m. and midnight Dec. 23. Four-foot inflatable Christmas penguin stolen from front yard.


York Road, 1120 block, between 12:30 and 12:36 a.m. Jan. 1. Black male threatened a clerk at 7-Eleven with a handgun. Clerk put money into plastic bag. Man took bag and ran away.

Galloway Avenue, 500 block, between Oct. 11 and Dec. 23. Hydraulic pump and assembly for plow stolen from Baltimore County Highways Shop. Hole cut in security fence.


Falkirk Road, 6400 block at 8:58 p.m. Dec. 30. A 2007 Toyota Corolla was stolen when left running in front of location. Car was located by police and juvenile suspect charged.

Lachan Circle, 6900 block between 1:30 and 6 p.m. Dec. 29. HP laptop, Toshiba laptop, 19-inch Vizio flat screen TV, Sony DVD player and cigarettes stolen from apartment.

Kenilworth Drive, 700 block at 2:15 p.m. Dec. 28. Man stole gray BMW 750LXI from BMW of Towson. Man was looking at vehicle with salesman and was given key to examine interior. Man drove off in car and was followed by salesman in another car, but escaped.

Ecoway Court, unit block between noon Dec. 22 and 6 p.m. Dec. 23. Thief broke into apartment complex laundry room, broke open metal change box and stole quarters. Exited window.

Stevenson Lane, 500 block between 8 a.m. Dec. 14 and 8:30 a.m. Dec. 28. One 100-foot roll of copper wire and two 70-foot rolls of copper wire stolen from work site.
