Jamie Sachs Mossovitz has been named vice president of Worthington Alternative Capital. She will handle the general management of day-to-day operations, originate new loans and conduct inspections of construction renovation draws.
Mossovitz has worked in the real estate industry for more than 15 years, and is an active member of the Parent Teacher Association of the Goldsmith Early Childhood Education Center in Pikesville. She also serves on the board of directors for Foundation Recovery, a transitional housing program headquartered in Owings Mills.
Mossovitz has served on the board of directors of Sinai Hospital Auxiliary, in Baltimore, and helped coordinate and run the Race for Kids, benefiting the Children's Cancer Center at Sinai Hospital. She also volunteered with raising funds for the Jewish Recovery Houses, House of Hope and Tova House.
Continental Realty Corporation selected Paul Kang as associate in the Baltimore-based commercial, retail and residential development and management company's Acquisition Department. He was formerly a real estate analyst forFirst Capital Realty.
In his new position, Kang will assist in the identification and evaluation of new acquisition opportunities in the mid-Atlantic and southernFlorida region.
Kang earned his Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Michigan and resides in Baltimore.
Har Sinai Congregation honored members with Rabbi David Einhorn Awards, named after the congregation's first rabbi and an early founder of Reform Judaism in America, at the third annual Heritage Celebration on May 15.

Har Sinai Congregation named Stewart D. Sachs president of the board for the 2011–2012 term. Sachs has served in leadership positions at Har Sinai Congregation before, including as president of Brotherhood as well as second vice president, treasurer and trustee of the congregation.

Sachs is founder and president of Worthington Alternative Capital, in Owings Mills, and a managing member of Black Walnut Capital Partners and Talbot Consulting. He has more than 40 years of experience serving clients in the financial services field.
At a celebration of service-learning in Maryland's public schools May 11, five representatives of Baltimore County Public Schools were honored for their leadership. Sherrilyn Backof, of the Rosedale Center, was named Service-Learning Principal of the Year. Sara Neff, a special education teacher at Cockeysville Middle School, and Gina M. Wilson, a visual arts teacher at Old Court Middle School, were recognized as two of eight Service-Learning Fellows for their efforts in coordinating school-based service initiatives.
In addition, two students — Harrison Hart, a junior at Towson High School, and Kelly Pennington, a senior at Kenwood High School — were among the 41 students chosen as Service Stars for their community service activities.
Har Sinai Congregation installed Rabbi Benjamin Sharff as the congregation's 14th rabbi during an Erev Shabbat service on May 29.
Before joining Har Sinai Congregation, Sharff served as associate rabbi at Temple Emanu-El in Tucson, Ariz. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in psychology and received his Rabbinic Ordination and a master's degree in Hebrew letters from the Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion, in Cincinnati.
The Arc Baltimore named Reisterstown resident Purcell Edwards the organization's Administrative Employee of the Year. The award, presented during The Arc Baltimore's 2011 annual meeting, is given to the administrative staff member who demonstrates excellence in management. It recognizes the ability to plan and implement programs and manage staff and other resources effectively, as well as a commitment to professional self-advancement and a dedication to normalization.
Carl Herber joined the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office in Greenspring as its new branch vice president. In this role, Herber will lead the team of 70 sales associates and manage the office's day-to-day operations. For the last two years, Herber served as branch vice president of the company's Baltimore Inner Harbor office in Fell's Point.
Herber, a native of Reisterstown who currently resides in Baltimore City, has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Bucknell University. He worked as an accountant at Deloitte & Touche in Manhattan, followed by positions in entrepreneurial operations and sales, property investment and marketing management. He previously owned and operated Masters Realty with offices in Fell's Point and Catonsville.
