Don’t worry if you see a lot of people walking around North County wearing hats or scarves. It’s simply teachers who are in the process of tearing their hair out. I know I would be.

Since schools reopened after Memorial Day weekend, students have been sent home early four days because of heat. And there’s still another six days of school left.

I can’t imagine what that’s doing to all those projects, tests, reports and assignments that were supposed to get done before school gets out on June 17.

I’m obviously deadline-driven, so I know it would drive me crazy to have somebody take away two or three hours of my day with little notice.

But I imagine teachers here in the Hereford Zone have learned to be flexible when it comes to weather disruptions.

It wasn’t too long ago we were dealing with snow shovels, slick roads and ice-crusted windshield wipers.

Wouldn’t some snow and sleet that we cursed a few months ago feel pretty good about now?
