Wow! What a success our 8th annual Summertime Fun event was May 21! We only made a few minor changes, and it worked out just right.
Parents enjoyed playing games with their children and obtaining information to improve their quality of life.
Youngsters received lots of prizes and eight went home with new bikes.
Everyone walked away with smiles!
This would not have been possible without the generous donations made by our elected officials, state Sen. Ed Kasemeyer, Dels. Jim Malone and Steve DeBoy and 1st District Councilman Tom Quick. Thank you so much!
Special thanks to Ambrose Funeral Home for providing the raffle tickets. Our families love the 50/50 raffle!
In addition, the Baltimore Highlands and Lansdowne-Riverview Recreation councils' donation provided a few of the bikes plus a clown, who made all sorts of balloon shapes.
We also thank the Riverview Community Association, Interfaith Partnership, Lansdowne United Methodist Church, Our Savior Lutheran Church, Hemels and McCoy, Sanctuary Energy Healing and Lighthouse Youth and Family Services,
John Gontrum from the state comptroller's office, Wachovia Bank, Amber Taylor, Nicole and Julie Carter, Catonsville YMCA, Wilkens Police Community Relations Council, Tom quirk and Armstrong and Associates for donating time to set up an information table.
The Lansdowne-Baltimore Highlands Senior Center and the Lansdowne Library offered live shows.
The Lansdowne Volunteer Fire Department contributed food and information.
Clayton and Sandy Canterbury of Riverview supervised the games for everyone to enjoy.
A special thank you to Catonsville Auto Repair-Towing, along with Craig and Deborah Witzke of Catonsville.
Tom Quirk informed them about the importance of our community event. They've made generous donations for next year's gathering.
Last but not least, we thank all of the residents and businesses who donated items for door prizes.
An ultimate thank you goes to everyone else who donated to make for the day's festivities so worthwhile.
We are already looking forward to repeating the tradition next year.
