Steamed crabs a soothing thought for Friday

If you'd like to sample some of the crabs on which Cravin Crabs on Annapolis Road is building its reputation, American Legion Post 195 will feature crabs Thursday, June 9, for the low price of $1.25 each, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Also, happy hour prices for corn on the cob and beer.

No reservations necessary, but get in line fast.

• On Father's Day, Sunday, June 19, the legion color guard will prepare the annual shrimp feast from 1 to 6 p.m.

Pit beef and ham, shrimp soup, fried/steamed shrimp, shrimp Creole with rice, Italian sausage, chicken wings, baked potatoes, green beans, potato salad, coleslaw, rolls, fresh fruit, sheet cakes and coffee will be on the menu.

The Brownies will cater the food with "Sound Storm" providing music.

A $35 donation is suggested.

The Lansdowne-Baltimore Highlands Senior Center will offer a Father's Day lunch Thursday, June 16, at noon.

Rib-eye steak, baked potatoes, coleslaw, herbed carrots, rolls, melon and milk will be served.

At 12:45 p.m., Leila Hopkins will entertain.

• The center will sponsor a lecture by Michael Crabb, an investment specialist with Edward Jones, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 21. If you live to reach 100, will your money last that long?

Congratulations to Marge Miller, the leader of the travel committee at the senior center on Third Avenue.

She recently received certificates of appreciation from Baltimore County's Department of Aging for organizing noteworthy trips and for coordinating volunteers' schedules.
