Man dies after work truck crashes in Baltimore County, police say

A man suffered fatal injuries and two other people were hospitalized after a work truck crashed Wednesday in the Lutherville-Timonium area of Baltimore County, according to police.

Officers were called about 11:42 a.m. to Dulaney Valley Road and Meadowcroft Court for a report of a collision, said Louise Rogers-Feher, a police spokeswoman. The driver, Sheldon Mitchell Walker, 26, was taken to Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, where he was pronounced dead at 5:33 p.m., she said.

Front-seat passenger Ajani Maillard, 30, of New Haven, Conn., and Germantown resident Peter Duffy, 27, a passenger in the rear seat, were taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Both suffered life-threatening injuries, and Duffy was in critical condition, according to Rogers-Feher.

Based on the preliminary police investigation, Walker was driving the Ford F-350 truck north on Dulaney Valley Road and traveled across the southbound lanes, colliding with the west curb, a fence and then a large tree, Rogers-Feher said.

The vehicle "sustained extensive front-end damage, which trapped both passengers and the driver," she said.

The crash remains under investigation. Rogers-Feher said the vehicle's airbags deployed and investigators found no evidence of alcohol or drug use.
