The Towson University Dance Team earned its 13th consecutive national title at the Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship in Daytona Beach Friday.
The 27-member Baltimore County team won the Division I competition, competing against Harvard, James Madison, Columbia University, Boston University and others in the National Cheerleaders Association and the National Dance Alliance championship.
"We're extremely excited and proud to represent Towson University once again at the national championships," said the team's coach, Tom Cascella, in a statement. "The team spirit and cooperation of this group of young women makes them champions. I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of our team."
The NCA/NDA Collegiate Championship is the largest college cheer and dance competition includes almost 5,000 student athletes performing a combination of hip-hop, jazz, funk and pom routines.
