Police: Middle River woman died under suspicious circumstances

A Middle River woman was found dead Monday morning under what police described as suspicious circumstances.

Baltimore County officers were summoned to the 300 block of Grovethorn Road shortly after 11:15 a.m. by a report of a cardiac arrest, but the officers found a dead woman "suffering from injuries that appeared to be suspicious in nature," a statement from police headquarters said.

Later in the day, the victim's death was classified as a homicide, said Detective Cathleen E. Batton, a spokeswoman for the police.

Police did not describe the woman's injuries. The department's statement said there was no information on suspects and that a motive was unknown, and that the case remained under investigation. No details of the woman's identity were available.

Anyone with information about the case or a suspect was asked to call Baltimore County Police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 866-756-2587. At the latter number, callers may choose to remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
