Balto. Co. police seek driver in fatal hit-and-run of pedestrian

Police in Baltimore County are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a 56-year-old pedestrian late Tuesday in Catonsville.

The dead man was identified as Jong Park, who police said was walking in the southbound lane of Rolling Road at about 10:35 p.m. when the vehicle, also traveling south, hit him near the intersection of Adil Court. The driver of the vehicle did not stop, as required to by law.

Park was taken to Northwest Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A police statement said there was no information about the driver, although the vehicle was described as a four-door, 1998-2002 Mercury Grand Marquis, dark in color. It may have damage to the windshield and the grill, which is missing a section.

Park's death was the second caused by a hit-and-run driver in the county in just over a week. On Jan. 13, Jason M. Cheslik, 29, was killed by a van on Hazelwood Avenue, near his home in Overlea. The van that struck Cheslik sped away. Police have not announced an arrest in that case.
