Essex man arrested in string of break-ins

A 40-year-old Essex man has been charged in a string of break-ins and a sex offense, Baltimore County police said Wednesday.

Troy Trevon Thames of the 1000 block of Bayner Road has been charged in three incidents, the most recent on Monday.

In that incident, police say, a man broke into a house in the 1000 block of Punjab Drive through an unlocked sliding-glass door and confronted a woman in her bedroom. The assailant shone a light in the woman's face, police said.

The woman told police that she began to scream for her boyfriend, who was in the shower, and the assailant fled. He was able to get into a car and speed away, but not before the woman's companion took note of part of the tag number.

Police later found a vehicle matching the description and charged Thames with third-degree burglary.

A police statement said detectives have linked Thames to earlier crimes. He has been charged with second-degree assault, third-degree sexual offense and third-degree burglary in an incident that occurred Sept. 19; and with third-degree burglary in an incident Nov. 4.

Thames was arrested Tuesday morning and is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center in lieu of $250,000 bond, according to police.
