Baltimore County police were investigating a double shooting Thursday night in Essex.

Officers responding to a call for shots fired about 11:45 p.m. in the 1200 block of Punjab Drive found a 21-year-old man and a 22-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Both victims were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. The 21-year-old was released, police said.

The victims told investigators they were approached by two male suspects while walking near Sandalwood Road. One of the men pulled out a handgun and began shooting at the victims, both of whom attempted to run away, according to police. The suspects then fled.

Investigators have not determined whether the victims know the suspects or a motive for the shooting. No arrests have been made.
