The owner of a Towson gas station died Tuesday morning after he was shot several times the day before during an apparent robbery attempt, a Baltimore County police spokesman said.

The victim, William Raymond Porter, 49, was shot about 7:25 a.m. Monday at a Hess station in the 1600 block of E. Joppa Road. He was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he died of his injuries at 10 a.m. Tuesday, said Cpl. Mike Hill, the police spokesman.

Investigators were seeking a black male, about 25 years old and 6 feet tall, who was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and other dark clothing. No arrests have been made, and police have yet to determine a motive.
