Baltimore Sun

Maryland State Police were investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident Monday morning on the outer loop of Interstate 695 at Baltimore National Pike.

Richardo Manchome, 29, of Amleht Court in Pikesville stopped about 10 a.m. on the shoulder of the Beltway when his Ford pickup broke down, according to police. As he was examining the engine, a car struck him, police said. He died at the scene.

The car, reported to be a black Honda or Acura, exited onto U.S. 40 east. Police said the car sustained heavy front-end damage.

Two other Monday-morning accidents in Baltimore County hospitalized four people.

In the first accident, two men and a woman were thrown from a westbound pickup truck that crashed about 5:30 a.m. on U.S. 40. County police said all three victims landed in a lot at Martin's East near Holley Drive and were taken by ambulance to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in critical condition.

Police identified Ever Portillo Orellana, 19, as the driver, and Xrexar Portillo Orellana, 26, and Maria Portillo, 30, as the passengers. All three live in Dundalk.

About 2 1/2 hours later, a man driving in the 9800 block of Reisterstown Road in Garrison hit a taxi and swerved into a pole. Clemmis Tommy Futrell, 44, was flown to Shock Trauma.
