Baltimore County Public Schools officials say Villa Cresta Elementary School in Parkville will be closed Thursday and Friday as repairs are made to the school's heating and electrical systems damaged as the result of this week's frigid temperatures.
Officials said damage occurred over the past weekend when the building's sprinkler system froze and flooded the school's boiler room. Both the boiler and electric systems sustained damage, and without the ability to heat the building, the school was closed to students Wednesday.
Repairs are expected to continue into the weekend, according to Baltimore County Public Schools' physical facilities personnel.
The school, which is located at 2600 Rader Avenue in Parkville, enrolls 675 students.
