Three people rescued after two-alarm fire breaks out in Rosedale apartment building

Firefighters helped three people trapped on balconies escape serious injury Saturday after a two-alarm fire raced through a Rosedale apartment building.

One person, an adult woman, was treated at an area hospital for smoke inhalation. Baltimore County Fire Lt. Tim Rostkowski said the fire, which appeared to have broken out in the first-floor leasing office, is being investigated by the Baltimore County Police Department's arson unit.

The blaze broke out just before 12:30 p.m. in a three-story brick apartment building in 2000 block of Kelbourne Avenue. Before the fire was brought under control about an hour later, it had damaged four apartments.

Rostkowski said that firefighters extended ladders to the second-floor units and helped the inhabitants climb down to safety. About 10 residents who were displaced were being helped by the American Red Cross.
