The body of a boater missing since he fell into Dark Head Creek in Middle River Wednesday afternoon was found Thursday morning, Natural Resources Police said.
Richard A. Miller, 71, of Joppa, was recovered at 8:15 a.m., the agency said. His family could not be reached for comment Thursday morning.
Baltimore County Police were called at 12:42 p.m. to the water near the 100 block of Kingston Park Lane for a report of the missing man, officials said.
The Maryland Natural Resources Police, which has jurisdiction over the state's waters, responded and used side-scan sonar to find him.
Passersby saw the man struggling as his rowboat took on water and tossed him a flotation device after he went overboard, but he could not reach it, said Fire Department spokesman Tim Rostkowski.
The tip of the sunken boat was barely visible, except for a buoy tied to it by rescue teams to mark its place in the water.
Baltimore city and county dive crews went into the water and searched unsuccessfully Wednesday afternoon, Rostkowski said.
Authorities continued the search in five vessels using boat-side and submersible Sonar systems to scan the bottom of the creek for him.
Police and fire department crews searched for hours Wednesday before suspending the search and resuming Thursday morning.
Authorities initially described Miller as a 70-year-old man before finding him and releasing his information.
