Baltimore County police have arrested a man wanted in connection with the attempted robbery of a BP gas station in Lutherville.
Police said Monday that Ricky Tolson, 36, has been taken into custody. He is charged with armed robbery and related charges, and was being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $50,000 bail. No attorney for Tolson was listed in online records.
Police had obtained an arrest warrant for a suspect in connection with a June 17 attempted robbery in Lutherville.
Police said that on June 17 at approximately 2 p.m., a suspect entered the store at a BP gas station in the 1600 block of York Road. He approached the counter with a hand under his shirt as if he had a gun and demanded money and lottery tickets.
The suspect then came around the counter and tried to take the register but was pushed away by the cashier. After two customers entered the store, the suspect fled without taking anything.
Police said an investigation led detectives to identify Tolson as the suspect, and a warrant was issued. Police on Monday did not give details about how Tolson was arrested.
Last week, Howard County police had also sought Tolson as a suspect in the armed robbery of SF Mini Mart on June 16 in Clarksville. In that case, police said around 3:10 p.m., a man entered the store and approached an employee, implying he had a weapon. After demanding money, the employee complied and the man ran away. No injuries were reported. Through investigation, detectives identified Tolson as a suspect.
