A passenger in a vehicle traveling on Interstate 695 in Baltimore County on Thursday night was killed when the car ran off the roadway and struck a parked State Highway vehicle, Maryland State Police said.
Authorities from the Golden Ring Barrack said that at approximately 8:32 p.m. Thursday a Hyundai Elantra was traveling on the outer loop of I-695 at the Baltimore National Pike when the car drove off the highway and onto the right shoulder.
The vehicle struck the rear end of the State Highway vehicle, which authorities said was unattended while the State Highway official was assisting a motorist that had run out of gas.
The driver, identified by police as Sara Dawson, 29, of Arnold, was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma with serious injuries, said authorities. The deceased passenger has not been identified pending next-of-kin notification.
Officials said the incident is under investigation.
