Lanes re-opened after box truck crash on I-95 in White Marsh

A box truck driver was airlifted from a wreck on Interstate 95 near White Marsh Tuesday afternoon, state police said.

The box truck hit an unattended vehicle at 1:26 p.m. in the shoulder of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway and went off the road into a wooded area near Route 43, backing up northbound traffic to the I-695 interchange.

The extent of damage to the vehicles was not immediately clear, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.

Two right lanes of traffic were shut down through the evening rush. All lanes were reopened around 6:30 p.m., but traffic remained heavy in the area, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.
